A warning to our Old Poets Society critics.
(in the form of a 'Tipperary')
SOL's poets for posterity
Write rhymes with great sincerity,
And though their muse may seem obtuse
With purpose simply to amuse,
Mockers will be dealt with…
with great severity!

About horthes furthest northest.
A horth is a horth of course off course
Off course, up north, oh dear, that's worse
These ditties have to rhyme you see
At least so said old Hank Hain-ey
And Mr Ed spoke too and said "Agree-gh"Clipping along

And here's another proposal from bonknhoot.
Seven Seas of Asia.
Not oceans (even though The Seven Seas are oceans).
So not quite ocean racing, but long challenging races nonetheless in all sorts of climates and weather patterns.
Apologies not quite the precision of kmz files, but enough info for OPS to create a course from.Clipping along

Yep, Dan, that's another option and I agree with you on all points:
- hate marks in the sea
- more people using routing
AND importantly
- Qt Vlm router now uses 'SOL' interpolation (u/v), so wind in router matches wind in SOL exactly.Clipping along

So many words said, what can I add? We will miss you, Finn, your always good humour and matter-of-fact approach to life, and all the working together on set-ups, particulars, race descriptions, time lapses and all the rest. In your memory we plan to race a PYOC from Copenhagen to Svendborg. We will all think and talk of you more then. An announcement will be appearing soon.Clipping along

I think the bottle of Ron Miel has fallen by the wayside at this stage, so why not rename this iconic race Nueva, and take the opportunity to make some course changes for longer legs and more strategic choices and less processional races, as per the attached and set up here on the Beta: http://beta.sailonline.org/breezy/run/987/Clipping along

Sinbad Braves the Bay of Bengal 2023
“Sinbad, you sorry sailor, why have you not told me of this great sea, this giant bay, stretching hundreds of thousands of qasbah east of Al-Hindi to fabled lands where tea and rice and rubber is abundant?” and Sinbad replied “Ahh, umm, shall I go have a look. May I take the Judel Vrolijk 62 again, it’s going to be a long voyage, perhaps a million and one half qasbah (c 3000nm)? I’ll start in Chittagong and follow the coast to the southern tip of the Hindus’ land, round Serendip, head east into the vastness of the seas, and if I’m lucky (no pun intended, oh Mighty One) I shall find land again and then head north and see where I end up”. “Fair winds, Sinbad”, said the Sultan.

Maryland to Alaska 2023
Welcome to this September edition of 2023 OCCH. This route was first sailed in 2020. At the time it was inspired by Matt Rutherford's single-handed Red Dot Expedition around the Americas in 2012, SOLer Renegade proposing a half-around from Maryland over the North into the Pacific and back through the Panama Canal, in 5 legs, 5 years later. Leg 2 across the North West Passage proved to be particularly challenging and so to create a proper Ocean Race, SRC combined Leg 2 with Leg 1 to give you a race of at least 4000nm from Maryland to Alaska, now to be sailed in our magnificent Archer 78.
