Same guest here. I just noticed the admin@sailonline.org address and emailed them about this. That's probably a better avenue than this forum since I won't be notified of replies to this forum.

I went to https://sailonline.org/community/accounts/register/ to create an account, entered my email, and clicked the button and got "The server returned an error. If this problem persists please contact the administrators.". I tried several times with the same result. I tried both Firefox and Chrome (both mac).

Thank you for your eloquent answer.
So log-in as sol is a better way to experience and view all the possibilities of your sailing and navigation simulation then doing so as guest.

I think SOL-management does not like to have <guest> or <sol> active in a race. And even during practice-sailing <guest> is invisible.

In the beginning years of sailonline it was always fun chasing <sol> the very moment the race was open for registration. When practice-sailing started this was no longer done.

When the race was started <sol> could be sailed as a community boat. Skippers did not know each other; just fun of not knowing what the next move would be.

All of a sudden <sol> could not chat any more. I know why that was done; why after years <sol> is still banned from chat I do not understand.

<sol> and <guest> are positioned from race-start as -1 or 9999. OK. But why did sol-management take away all things that made navigating possible?

<guest> is still not visible/usable during practice-racing.

Seems this forum is not read/maintained by anyone who could change something in the working of Sail On Line. At least <guest> is still not navigable during practice racing.

Round Greenland 2024

Just as Skip Novak was embarking for Kamchatsky, Amyr Klink also quietly slipped his Antarctica moorings and by now Paratii 2 has reached Reykjavik, where he invites you to join him on Leg 5 of our High Latitudes Series, a full 3650nm circumnavigation of Greenland. The course is clockwise round, so down the North Atlantic to Cape Farewell, then up the Davis Strait into Baffin Bay and on into the Arctic Ocean proper, where, hopefully and certainly virtually, Paratii 2’s special ice-breaker features will get us thorough the summer ice out onto the Greenland Sea and back to Reykjavik. Stay warm!
