If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.

Thanks, ij. The problem appears to have been in my own computer, as it righted itself when I changed screens and then went back to the original. Why this should have occurred is beyond my knowledge of programming

  • Colour of boat track and size of the time marker
    Board » Technical Support
The boat track in both the COG and TWA is the same colour which is dull blueish-black, and the time balls on the two tracks are both small and red. The one chosen used to be a lot larger. I can find no button in the Misc. Settings panel to change this. Has the SOL system for this function been changed?
p.s.Thank you! The problem had corrected as soon as I went bask to the race screen.

  • Legality of the use of extra zoom on the apparent size of end points of finish line
Board » Flag Officers » Rules and Decisions
When the end point of the finish line is examined on extra zoom, is it legal to set course very close to the point and still legally finish, even when, on standard zoom, the course would cross over the edge of the round dot?

The race info says 'Lv to Stbd' at the Seal Island mark, but the diagram shows an Arrow indicating 'Lv to Port'. This problem should be cleared up prior to the race start....

Other than the Suez and Panama Canals, why not a 'real' RTW Race? Three legs---long, yes, but so is an IRL RTW! It would give a "Great" choice of actual route to the SOL competitors!

Is it possible to have the "Settings" saved until changed? Right now you have to renew all of your preferred screen features every time you log into a new race. This is a bit irritating.

  • Re: Enabling Flash player on an Android tablet
    Board » Technical Support
I have noted a few irregularities in the HTML5 client, and hope they can be repaired. It is hard to break the habits of years---for instance, centering any point on the screen now requires 3 clicks, rather than 2. The actuation of a course choice needs 2 not 1 clicks. Stopping the boat at a start/finish line requires the entry of TWA = (0) not (0.00000) or (0.) Realizing some entry hasn't worked as expected can make for mistakes that are very frustrating....

After some frustrations, I found that the action to center any point, at max zoom, on the comp screen (which I always previously used to check on clearance of headlands, islands etc.,) using a double click with the cursor on that position, no longer worked. I have now accidentally found that it still operates, but with a TRIPLE clicking.
Is it just that I had missed something, or is this new info to everybody else?

Bimmer:- What is AGL and where do I find it? I'm not a router user, but sometimes getting out of a restricted start area can be a real chore late at night.

The Beagle in the Azores 2024

And west the Beagle went one final time to round the Cape of Good Hope on May 31 1836. Ashore, Darwin met up with the Astronomer Royal, Herschel, who just happened to be in South Africa at the same time mapping the southern skies. After sounding out his many ideas on evolution and extinction with Herschel, the Beagle now sailed north, stopping briefly in St Helena, Ascension and Brazil, and the Cape Verdes again, to reach the Azores on September 19, 1836. Fitzroy and Darwin at this stage were in a hurry to get back to Britain, but online in 2024 we will stay a little longer to explore this final remote archipelago in our virtual Tall Ship Class B Beagle, 630nm round and about the islands, minding as always in these waters not to bump into any large cetaceans!
