NovaBench is actually an over 17 MB download. Also not so easy for a semi-computer literate non-coder type person to use. I couldn't get anything like the results you posted. Maybe I downloaded the wrong thing, but I didn't see any other options in the link you posted.
Also I see you edited the post since I read it this morning (Cal time). So I don't know how the info I spent the time to pull out relates to you original request.
Actually I think you should just assume that most solers use off the shelf computers...probably 90% laptops with integrated graphic chipsets. I doubt that very many are using alien-ware hi-end gaming machines.

Here in central Cal, depending on where I'm connecting I get from .3 Mbps to 3Mbps down and from .15 Mbps to 1.9 Mbps up on my 3G donaggle. At the coffee shop on DSL 1.2 ~ 1.5 Mbps down and .3 ~ .5 up.

I have a 15.5'" wide screen display. 1366 x 786 resolution...32 bit color depth...60Hz refresh rate.

My machine has 2GB RAM, Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3400 (2.16 GHz), with standard (HP) Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset graphics board.
OS is Win Vista SP2 (fully updated).
Mostly I use Chrome (especially for sol). Also use on occasion FireFox (still on 6), Opera, and on very rare occasions IE9.

Yes, I made error there - it is 12Mb... 3 is version number... oops

But I cant think of an easier program to use - there is a very large button when you start the app that says 'Start Benchmark Tests'

All that info is still relevant Jack - NovaBench is just a convenient way to get hold of it, and provides simple numbers that allow comparison of both windows and mac machines.

The Beagle in the Azores 2024

And west the Beagle went one final time to round the Cape of Good Hope on May 31 1836. Ashore, Darwin met up with the Astronomer Royal, Herschel, who just happened to be in South Africa at the same time mapping the southern skies. After sounding out his many ideas on evolution and extinction with Herschel, the Beagle now sailed north, stopping briefly in St Helena, Ascension and Brazil, and the Cape Verdes again, to reach the Azores on September 19, 1836. Fitzroy and Darwin at this stage were in a hurry to get back to Britain, but online in 2024 we will stay a little longer to explore this final remote archipelago in our virtual Tall Ship Class B Beagle, 630nm round and about the islands, minding as always in these waters not to bump into any large cetaceans!

Lake Victoria Sprint 2024

Welcome to Lake Victoria, home of the final sprint of Q4 and 2024. This Saturday we will sail our Lasers from Kaazi to Entebbe - 18 odd English miles in a cooling breeze, however slight it might be. Friends there will host an end of year BBQ of Luwombo, Muchomo, Matoke, and other delicacies. We will all sleep well after that. Now that the year is done relax and take in some sights like the Botanical Gardens and National Zoo. Enjoy the holidays and rest, 2025 sprints are a month away.
