Hi Kipper,
Any idea why I get this error for NOAA file? I have seen this for a while when I have NOAA checked and set for 16 days.

Freyja, you need to google the exception and see what could possibly be causing it. I have no idea and it does not happen to me. Looks like a security issue of some form.
Kipper, I'm getting a similar NOAA error:

Getting NOAA file gfs.t12z.pgrb2.1p00.f009 returned error javax.net.ssl.SSLException.

Trying again in 60 seconds (URL=https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/filter_gfs_1p00.pl?file=gfs.t12z.pgrb2.1p00.f009&lev_10_m_above_ground=on&var_UGRD=on&var_VGRD=on&subregion=&leftlon=176&rightlon=293&toplat=39&bottomlat=-41&dir=%2Fgfs.20210406%2F12%2Fatmos)

Might be some information here, but it's way over my head:

Kipper, I'm getting an error in just one race (Pac6) when attempting to load the graphical chart... the program freezes, and can only be closed by closing the command window. DCs will load to the server, but can't be manipulated (eg. applying PL, etc).

Here's the error code from the command window:
-------------------------------------------

Update... I deleted Maps folder, restarted, no change. Then deleted all AGL folders, restarted, no change. Then restarted with a different race, everything is fine. Repeated everything in another race folder. Same results.
Can you please replace your copy of the attached file with this one and try again.

If that works, the main maps library is corrupt. You need to download maps.zip from OneDrive and then delete the maps folder from the Java14 folder. Unzip the maps.zip into the Java14 folder. You should see a new maps folder when done.
Kipper, I mostly use AGL to refine QT routes by importing into AGL via Kroppyer's conversion website and running DC conditioning and adding in Performance Loss. Today I was trying to learn more about adding and editing Waypoints directly in AGL. There seem to be some gaps in the Manual:
--I don't understand how to convert an edited WP to DC's as pictured in the manual.
--When I click on almost any button along the top of the graphics window after editing a WP, the whole app crashes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions or additional documentation? If easier, you can communicate with me at ed@careofcreation.org
There has been a change to the raceinfo file on the server which is causing AGL to crash on DC checking. This is happening in the Buenos Aires to Punta del Este race, and I am not sure how long it will continue. The fix is to edit the auth_race_info file in the SOLGrib xml folder, and do the following:
1. Shut down AGL.

2. Add the line

<tilemap>i</tilemap>

after the line <maxlat>-33.0</maxlat>

You will need to check the resolution of the maps on the Misc tab. Use <tilemap>i</tilemap> for intermediate, <tilemap>h</tilemap> for high resolution.

3. Save and close the file
4. Go into the maps folder and delete any files in there.
5. Restart AGL

If you still have a blank graphics screen on checking DCs, delete the file autoGribLoader.ini. You will unfotunately lose all your settings, and will need to reconfigure AGL.

I have attached a working copy of the auth_race_info file for this race.

Here's the file (did not work last time)

Transat à Deux 2025

Above you see a single-handed sailor semi-foiling his Beneteau Figaro III to the horizon. It is in fact Ireland’s Sailor of the Year and the overall winner of last year’s Solitaire du Figaro, Tom Dolan. Somehow, we got our hands on a polar for the Class, and rather than trying to surreptitiously track Tom and his mates in the 2025 edition of the Solitaire, sailing rather-short, single-handed legs across the Celtic Sea and Biscay, we thought we’d see how our virtual craft would fare on the Class’s double-handed 3900nm Trans-Atlantic, from somewhere in Brittanny to somewhere in the Caribbean via somewhere in the Canaries. Allez, mes braves!

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Toamasina to Baia de l'Oiseau

You may recall that when last we visited Madagascar in the company of Sinbad, the Sultan commanded our intrepid inspirator to seek out fabled islands where in Summer the sun barely set. We did and we returned but the Sultan wasn’t happy with Sinbad’s report, so here we go again, now by SOL Balloon instead of sailing vessel. Expect to be in the air for at least 2100nm and depending on how the wind brings us, anything between two weeks and two months before we shall descend at the Sultan’s given coordinates!

Melbourne Osaka Cup Double-Handed Yacht Race 2025

Welcome once again to what these days is Sailonline’s almost annual virtual Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race. In real life, this double-handed 5500 nm race between these two sister cities, one deep in the southern hemisphere, the other high in the northern hemisphere, is run every four to five years, and this year is such a year. So, this year’s online version is in sync with the Melbourne Osaka Cup 2025 organised by the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV), and the Sandringham (SYC) and Osaka Hokko (OHYC) yacht clubs. We’ll be racing the well-known First 40, a popular size of boat which should be a good match for many of the boats entered in the real race. With the doldrums unavoidably lying across our course, you can expect to be at virtual sea for at least a month!
