Version 2.5.0 is now available on SOLFANS
Release Notes Version 2.5.0 has the following enhancements 1. Select and delete a subset of the DC’s 2. Only DC’s that have changed are updated. A single DC can be edited, and only that one will change 3. Coordinate copy now available in DC Checker. Left or right mouse click will copy those coordinates into the paste buffer in waypoint or SOL format. 4. Toolbar added and buttons removed. 5. DC Checker highlights when TWA is outside optimal range. 6. Course and additional course waypoint markers are now scaled to 10 metres across. 7. Log file can now be loaded as a set of waypoints. Bug fixes – 2.5.0 1. Finish line correctly positioned. 2. Boat coordinate update time now correct. 3. Fixed map issue when crossing 0 meridian. |

A localisation issue (decimal period vs decimal comma) was reported in this version and has been fixed. If you use the decimal comma in your locale, you will need to re-download the release. All other locales will be fine.

I've had a few reports of early roundings even though DC Checker shows it as clearing the mark. Have a read through this post which should explain why that happens. DC Checker assumes that the DC is going to fire exactly at that time with no uncertainty.
When is my command executed? |

There is an issue with the Northern Lights race is that the Wx download time has changed. I've made a temporary fix to allow you to override the time. On the Parameters Tab there is a new text box called Wx Start Time . The default is 4:25. For this race, enter 2:44 to match the Wx updates for the race. And remember to change it to suit each race.
Two other features have been added. 1. Apply and Save on the Parameters Tab . Apply does a complete reset and restarts all the servers. Save simply saves the values, and may not be recognised by the servers. Useful when changing DC Checker parameters. 2. With the DC Checker, there is now a scaling cross one Server Recovery Time back (which should be no less than 10 seconds) from the DC. That is the danger zone, anywhere inside which your DC could fire. So if a mark or coast you want to round falls in between those marks, you run the risk of missing, or a BBQ. Patch is here http://solfans.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/AG_2_5_1.zip |

Just a quick note. If ever there is a change to the race details, DC Checker won't pick it up if it happens after the first time you have run DC Checker. There is a file called auth_raceinfo_<race id>.xml that resides in the SOLGribxml folder which, because of its size, I only download if it does not exist. The file contains details on where to find the weather, the boat polar, course waypoints race limits, start time and other important information that DC Checker needs. If any of this information changes after you have initialised the race, DC Checker won't pick it up. The fix - simply delete the file and restart DC Checker. As it no longer exists, DC Checker will reload the file and get the new information.

Version 2.5.2 has been released and has the following enhancements.
1. Danger mark has been added to DC’s inside which any rounding has the risk of failure 2. Now warns if DC checking runs out of grib and will generate waypoints up to that point. 3. Log files are now created in waypoint format and can be loaded directly into the graphical checker. Bug fixes – 2.5.2 1. Finish line was still incorrectly positioned and naming did not match Brainaid. Now fixed. 2. DC “creep” fixed. The wrong boat speed was being used for the recovery calculation. 3. All bearing calculations have been converted to rhumb line calculations, which appear to match the SOL client. |

Version 2.5.3 has been released and has the following enhancements.
1. Added grib download time to allow for non-standard Wx update times. 2. Changed installation to use one copy of the jar file and environment variables. 3. Will now show which executable is running, if the environment variables are used. 4. UTC Clock added to DC Checker tab. Bug fixes – 2.5.3 1. Trapped internet outages or network changes and tries to reconnect by getting a new token from the server 2. Improved handling of current boat information during haul back at the start of a race, where the boat has speed but is not moving. 3. Trapped processes trying to access grib information whilst Wx is being refreshed, which would then fail. Should now wait until the Wx refresh is complete. --- Last Edited by Kipper1258 at 2017-01-05 02:12:47 --- |

All,
I have a favour to ask. I would like to get the Windows bat files I use converted so that this will run under Mac OS and Linux. I can then update those and include them in future releases. If any SOLers can do that, please let me know either here or on SOLFANS. Thanks |

The Beagle in Tahiti 2024
Leaving the Galapagos behind, the course was west again, and by November 15th the Beagle reached Tahiti. Like Gauguin, sixty years later, Darwin found the natives, recently Christianized, pleasant and intelligent, but unlike Gauguin, this did not persuade him or his captain, Fitzroy, to tarry long. Let’s have a sail-around in 2024 anyway; 640nm, as ever in the Class B Tall Ship HMS Beagle.
